Cornish Tin Wedding Ring Designs for Your Special Occasion

A Cornish tin wedding ring is a meaningful symbol of connection, place, and commitment. Whether you're marking ten years of marriage or simply drawn to the enduring traditions of Cornwall, incorporating Cornish tin into a ring creates something special and lasting.

These handcrafted pieces are increasingly chosen by couples who want something different: a ring that reflects their story, their roots, or a deep affection for Cornwall's landscape and history.

Who Is a Cornish Tin Wedding Ring For?

A Cornish tin inlay ring is a fitting choice for:

  • Couples marking their 10th anniversary – tin is the traditional gift for this milestone.

  • People with Cornish family connections or fond memories of time spent in Cornwall.

  • Anyone looking for a subtle but distinctive alternative to conventional gold or silver.

  • Those who want to celebrate their relationship with something personal and custom made.

These rings are often worn alongside an existing wedding or engagement ring, or can even become the new wedding band itself.

What Makes Cornish Tin Special?

Cornish tin has deep historical roots. Once a major part of the region’s economy, Cornish tin has been mined for thousands of years, and its heritage is still treasured today.

Some key properties of Cornish tin:

  • Naturally silver in colour but slightly more muted, giving a soft, understated look.

  • Unlike many metals, tin doesn’t oxidise, so it stays bright over time.

  • Pure tin is too soft to make a ring from on its own – which is why it’s used as an inlay in a more durable metal like gold, silver, or platinum.

How We Make Cornish Tin Inlay Rings

Our experienced metalsmith has spent many years working with Cornish tin, inlaying it into solid gold, silver, or platinum bands.

  • The design process begins with sketches and agreeing the design and sizes with the customer – whether that’s a simple Cornish tin band or a more detailed gold ring inlay pattern.

  • The ring is first handmade in your chosen metal and carefully sized to fit.

  • A custom tool is then used to create a precise channel around the band – or to cut out the shape of the chosen design.

  • Molten tin is poured into this space, filling it accurately and evenly.

  • Once the tin has cooled and set, the ring is polished and finished to your specifications.

We use a rare and limited supply of Cornish tin from the South Crofty mine – a direct link to Cornwall’s last working tin deposit.
