Cornish Pasty pendant – highly polished, solid pewter pendant, this cute Cornish pasty is 3D in shape and therefore double sided. Comes on an 18″ trace chain.
 
Nineteenth century Cornish tin miners favoured pasty for daily croust (lunch). They rarely contained meat in those days and were usually made with potato, rooties (swede & turnip) and pilchards. The fish was preferred salted as it helped to counteract miners’ cramp brought on by profuse sweating in the hot conditions deep underground. The crimp provided a handgrip that could be either discarded if contaminated by arsenic or left for the knockers (underground spirits).
